Hello 2009

New Years Eve is know for partying, boozing, eating, scary movies…

And every year,

we are in the middle of all that, doing something.

Usually, it’s a party at our farm. Bonfire raging.

We have fun. Sing karaoke. Hang out.

This year.

The Captain, Boo and I watched movies.

It was 12:10 before we realized it was already 2009.

Exciting, huh?

Different, for sure.

But, somehow, nice.

How about you?

What did you do on New Years Eve?

How did you bring in the New Year?

Partying?

Hanging?

Singing?

Sleeping?

Tell us how you bid farewell to 2008 and hello to 2009.

Share your New Years 2009 celebration with us.

  1. Quiet evening with the family. the first year the kids actually stayed awake. They were amazed I was letting them bang pots and pans together in the street at midnight….they loved it!

  2. We watched a movie with our oldest granddaughter and ate cookies we baked earlier and toasted with sparkling cider. Oh and we ran out and screamed Happy New Year and honked our car horn. Living way out here we don’t have much excitement so this would do.

  3. Brian and I went out to eat then came home and watched the ball drop with the girls then we all slept in our bed. It was nice and cozy – my favorite way to ring in the new year!

  4. Generaly we just go to sleep but this year my sister Paula was here with her family.
We stayed up & played rummy & ate lots of good food.
We even watched the ball drop.

  5. There were six of us here, two daughters, one friend, one grandchild, one husband and myself. LOL Only two of us remained awake to see the ball drop. We played games and snacked a lot. No drinks, except soda and or water. While playing Phase 10, one daughter looked at me and nodded her head to the other side of the table, there set the other daughter with her eyes closed and we said it’s your turn, and she said oh, did I fall asleep? So after the game was over, she took off for her bed and granddaughter went along. Abe was asleep in the recliner, daughter’s friend was asleep in another recliner. So that was our exciting night. I can’t remember the last time Abe was awake on New Years Eve.

  6. Me, Chitter, and Chatter Contra Danced in the new year. Deer Hunter was asleep by the time it rolled around-if not for the girls I would have been too. Glad you guys enjoyed your quiet night-quiet is always nice to me.

  7. We went to bed at 11:30. We welcomed in the new year with sleep! I guess thats what happens when you have a 10 month old! hehehe

  8. Sounds like most of the bloggers above, did what we did. Having been to NYC to watch the ball drop 3 times with family, its nice to have a relaxing evening by the fire. Blue Skies.

  9. bonfire and kareoke sounds like fun. But we had a calmer New Years, much like yours this year. I stayed up with the boys playing chess and monopoly. We then went to a convenience store to get slurpees at 10:30pm. Crazy wild, I know. lol

    Happy New Year!

  10. Seeing we had been away for the holidays and had only gotten home earlier in the evening we were tired but managed to see Dick Clark was still going strong, watch the ball drop, drink a glass of champagne and then go to bed.
I don’t think I have been but to one New Year’s party in my whole life. Sad. 🙂

  11. I was soooo asleep at midnight I didn’t even hear the guns that people all around the neighborhood were shooting off to celebrate. I guess I was worn out from my Christmas trip and hadn’t caught up on my sleep yet. How boring I’m getting as I get older. 😦
