Rekindling A Passion

You may have been asking where is Twisted Fencepost?
No new posts for how long now?

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays!

Aside from my full-time job I have worked myself right through November into December and straight through to what is now January.
As I have told you before I am at my happiest when I am creating.

And for the past few months my creations were made with the help of my sewing machine. Rekindling my passion for sewing has been my past time and part time work.
Here are a few of my creations….

My hands get so cold while sitting at my desk working on the computer. Gloves or mittens are out of the question so I made myself a set of fingerless gloves so I could continue working and still have the warmth of a glove or mitten. They work like a charm. In fact now my hands get a little too warm at times and I have to take them off.

I had piles of gray fleece left over from another project that I just couldn’t bring myself to throw out. So I started making more fingerless gloves for the girls in my office who complain about their cold hands. And they loved them!

Love these ladies!

Here’s another thing that kept me busy through November and December….

I made mermaid blankets throughout the holidays (10 total). There were some smiling little mermaids come Christmas morning.

One of the ladies in the picture above has a grandbaby coming in early spring and she asked if I could make a binky bib for her.

She will have it monogrammed before the baby shower.

That is something that I have not learned yet but am very interested in learning and adding it to my sewing knowledge.

That same lady asked me to make this little shift for her granddaughter.

I’ll admit I was a little nervous about this one. I didn’t have a pattern so she let me borrow another little shift to create a pattern from. I just changed the neckline to make it square as she had requested. It turned out rather well, I think.

There’s more, but I’ll save that for another day. Right now this winter storm passing through our area has got me wanting to sit next to this….

And maybe take a nap!

Until next time….

I’ll try to post more often.

But honestly all I do is work and I really don’t want to bore you with that. Although I thought you might like to hear about my part time work creations from time to time.

Happy Friday

What Would You Be

I think most eveyone has the dream of owning their own business.

Although, everyone owning their own business is not possible. If we all owned and ran our own business, who would that leave to do the work?

It still doesn’t stop us from dreaming. ¬†That’s how successful, useful products are brought to life.

A dream is where it starts.

Some take their dreams to their grave.

Others live to see their dreams fulfulled and perfected.

Wouldn’t it be thrilling to do what you love and make a successful business out of it?!

Actually, look forward to getting up in the morning and starting another day at work.

Instead of dreading getting out of bed, much less, head for work.

For someone else.

Working is not work when you are doing something you enjoy.

I’m not sure what I would do.

There are so many things I love doing. Things I don’t have time to do, due to working for someone else.

Surely, one of them could be made into a successful business.

I do know that it would involve working with my hands.

What things do you love doing and have dreamed of making a business out of?

Can You Relate?

We have been gone, camping, four of the last five weekends.

To Charleston, SC, the first two weekends, and the week in between.

The third, I had to work, it was my Saturday.

The last two, at Lake Wateree, SC.

This coming Saturday, is my Saturday to work, again.

I work all day. When I get home the last thing I want to do is more work!

I have a yard that needs mowing.

A kitchen that needs cleaning.

Floors that need a little more than a sweeping.

Clothes to wash.

Things need putting in their place.

Food to cook. Critters to feed. Grocery, school supply and clothing shopping to do.

And everything else that needs doing around a busy household.

And when I get done with that…

I’ve gotta clean the camper….and get it ready for next time.

When the house gets messy, I get messy!

I go to bed every night, knowing there is more to be done. I think my subconscious is still trying to clean while I sleep.

The Captain helps when he can. He works a lot of hours, so his help time is limited.

Boo helps some, too.

Just when I think I’m getting caught up, off we go again. It awaits my return. Darn it! And then there’s the mess that comes back with me.

So I start over, again.

And then there’s the matter of…

I make a mess cleaning up another mess. It drives me mad! I hate having to do things over!!!

I want to do whatever “it” is and get it done.

Can you relate?

What’s keeping you so busy, you can’t keep up with the everyday stuff?

¬†C’mon, leave me a comment! Tell me you can relate! Tell me one day it’ll all get done!

But, don’t tell me it’ll never get done. I don’t think I could handle it.¬†

Don’t get me wrong! I am not complaining!

I enjoy going camping! I enjoy the time away. I just get frustrated when I come home and there is so much to do.

I am thankful, that I am able to go, there may come a time when I am not.

And when and if that day comes, I will sit on my porch and enjoy the memories I’ve made!
