Around The Farm May 2011

Another thing I did over the weekend was take pictures. I cannot tell you how long it has been since the Rabbit and I went for a walk. That is unusual for me.

It was another thing I had been itching to do.

Here are some of the things I found around the farm…..

A ladybug.

The honeysuckle smelled so sweet.

A tiny purple flower.

A busy bumblebee.

A stack of wood waiting for winter’s arrival.

I’m not in any hurry to put that to use!

Locust sheds.

They shed in some of the strangest places and in awkward positions.

On the side of a cinderblock.

I remember as a kid finding those occasionally. This year on the farm they are everywhere.

A critter hideout.

There are four holes all near eachother here. And as I recall last year about this time I found holes in the same area.

I wonder what is living under there that emerges each spring?

And my favorite…

I think photographing daisies are one of my favorite hobbies.

What is one or your favorite hobbies?

Happy Tuesday!

Lantern Weed

On my recent trip around the farm, I noticed how the flowers have begun to change.

The succulents bloom in the summer, then the flowers begin to change colors.

I began taking pictures of these succulent flowers when this little guy flew in and dove head first into the flowers. He must’ve been hungry!

When I started taking pictures, he stopped, backed out of the flower and looked at me and stayed there for a remarkable amount of time.

Allowing me to take more pictures.

Either I blinded him with the flash or he is confident in himself to pose for pictures.

When he got tired of posing, he crawled around and under the flower. I couldn’t get a good picture of that. Darn it!

This is a weed, no idea what it’s called. The lantern-like pods are interesting.

I’d really like to know what this is called. Maybe you know!

For now I’ll call it the Lantern Weed.

UPDATE! We now know what these are.

Meanwhile, Back on the Farm……

The Captain’s parents are off in the midwest somewhere visiting friends and relatives.

Meahwhile, back at the farm…

The Captain and Boo, are keeping up the outside chores and I am recuperating from last week and walking around taking pictures so Mom and Dad don’t miss a thing while they’re gone.

Were these blooming when you left?

Or this?

The bunny says he’s standing guard.

The ladybug says she’s waiting…

in the shade of a daisy.

Would you look at those blackberries!!!

And the size…

Now you know, just because your gone those blackberries won’t go uneaten!

They’ll probably be stolen.

Not by a bird.

But by the “Blackberry Ham”!

So anyway, Ms. Bird says, “Exactly, when is it your coming home?”

And Mr. Frog says, “He’ll leave the light on for ya!”

Have fun, tell everyone Hello and see ya soon.
