Things are slowing down here on the farm. The yard work has slowed to just preparing for winter.
This year we had just enough rain to keep the grass and weeds growing at a steady pace. Which is unusual because normally about mid summer we are either in or close to drought conditions and the grass gets all crunchy. Which is hard on the feet if you like to walk barefoot across the yard the way I like to do.
On a hot day I love the feeling of the cool grass (and clover) tickling my toes. Don’t you? If you haven’t taken off your shoes and let the grass tickle your toes since you were a child, I challenge you to do so when the weather is warm enough to do so. You’ll be glad you did. Not only does it feel good to those piggies, but it will bring back treasured memories.
