2012 Garden Report 3

There is still not much to talk about from the garden.

I have been busy out there getting things planted and grass clippings put down to hold off the weeds. It never ceases to amaze me that with little rain the weeds still continue to thrive, but without regular watering the garden plants will wither and die.

The oregano over wintered well and is thriving in the herb garden.

I believe it’s time to harvest quite a bit of it and hang it to dry.

The green beans have sprouted and are doing well.

I am hoping the rabbits don’t find them!

I can’t wait to begin harvesting the green beans and get a pot in the crockpot to cook.

One of my favorite things about gardening is when the cooking green beans begin smelling up the house.

So what do you have growing in your garden so far?

Happy Monday!

TFP 😉

    • Jen, I have no doubt you will be surpassing me soon!
Crockpot green beans: string, snap and rinse the green beans, add them to the crockpot. Add just enough water to cover them. Add a tablespoon of bacon grease, 2 tablespoons of cooked, crumbled bacon and salt to taste. Cook on low for several hours until fork tender.
Caution: the aroma will starve you ALL DAY!!! LOL
