Saucy Sunday – Biscuits And……

Yesterday morning I woke up with a hankering.

A strong desire for biscuits and butter.

For biscuits, butter and…..whatever kind of jams and jellies I could find.

Maybe strawberry jam….

Or apple jelly….

Oh, and I had to have some apple butter, too….

And a cold glass of milk to wash it down with.

I used to make biscuits like this almost daily.

There was barely a time when you would walk into my kitchen and not find some homemade biscuits sitting around somewhere.

I guess work and a busy lifestyle have led me away from my biscuit making days.

Now, I usually only fix them with Sunday breakfast, along with gravy, bacon and eggs. (Which is usually around lunchtime)

It doesn’t take long to make them.

I just stirred them up and put them in the oven and by the time I finished washing a little bit of dishes and gathered the butter, plates, flatware, jams and jellies they were ready to come out of the oven.

Boo and the Captain enjoy when I get a hankering for something, cause they know they will benefit from it, too.

Together, we have decided this would be a great start to Saturday mornings.

We are not much for an early breakfast. By the time we are up and about and the hunger pangs start, this is a quick and easy way to start the day.

If you would like to know how I make these drop biscuits……….click here.

What would you top your hot biscuits with?

  1. Looks go good, you’re giving me a hankerin’ now too.

I got my bulbs today!!! Thank you so much! Do I plant them now? I never know which ones are supposed to be put in the ground in the fall…

  2. I’m a biscuit lover and maker too! Of course, sausage gravy is wonderful, but I also love any homemade jam on them and occasionally one with butter and honey. We have a little cafe’ here that makes and sells a garlic jelly. I know it sounds kind of icky, but believe me when I say that it’s wonderful. I love to take a leftover biscuit, open it up, butter it, stick it butter side down on a hot cast iron skillet to brown it, then slather it with garlic jelly. Heavenly!!!

  3. I was going to say butter and honey but then I saw someone’s comment about gravy. Ummm – biscuits and sausage gravy. You sure can’t beat that. So maybe biscuits and grave, then biscuits with butter and honey for dessert? LOL
