Do you have a motto?
Something you are known by?
Words to live by?
Something an elder has said that was an Ah Haaa moment for you?
I have several. Different one’s for different scenarios.
For instance…
Under pressure?
Never let them see you sweat!
This can apply with more than one meaning.
Feeling inadequate for the task at hand?
Never let them see you sweat!
Meaning,
Never let the opposition know that you really don’t know what it is that you are doing. Wing it.
Nervous?
Never let them see you sweat!
Meaning,
I’m calm, cool and everything is under control. Even if it’s not.
I am an easy going kind of person. I put up with a lot before I start getting “ill”, as they say here in the south.
Ill: meaning, in a bad mood, aggrevated, upset or just plain pissed off.
I try to please people. Make them smile. But some people just can’t be pleased.
I give it my best shot. And that’s it. If they don’t like me or what I say and do. That’s their problem. I tried to be nice. I’m done!
Here’s my motto for that situation: They hold no bearing on my life, therefore, I do not need them.
Another motto of mine that fits that situation is: I was just fine before they came into my life and I’ll be just fine when they leave it.
You can be my friend or not, the choice is yours.
And then there’s my favorite.
Don’t ever give up!
This can apply with just about any situation.
If you want or need something. Or somebody, for that matter.
Don’t ever give up!
Always!
Always!!!!
Work toward your goals. Keep your head high and your eye on the prize.
Granted, sometimes, things just aren’t meant to be. Then you adjust your goals.
If something is too hard to come by, then it’s probably not meant to be.
Not meaning to give up.
Adjust your goals.
Maybe a replacement or a different direction.
But, don’t ever give up!
So, tell me, what’s your motto?
And how has it applied it to your life?

Like you I have several-but the first one that comes to mind is “Remember who you are”. My closest friend’s Dad use to tell us that before we walked out the door on a weekend night. I kinda thought it was silly at the time-but now I see he was so right. As long we remembered who we were and what we stood for and what was expected of us we wouldn’t get into any trouble. Sad we didn’t always listen. I hope my girls will listen.
I’ d rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I’ m not. I guess that why I don’t have many friends. hmm!!! Oh well!!!
I am with General Dee I guess that is why I don’t have many true friends either.
